Forrest N. Cook, Geologist and Principal Scientist
Forrest is a Professional Geologist in the State of California (#8201) with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Geological Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a jack-of-all-trades in the environmental consulting industry. In his 12 of experience he has worked extensively as the project manager of fuel and solvent soil and groundwater remediation projects. Forrest is also an excellent field geologist, who has installed hundreds of groundwater monitoring wells throughout the State of California. In addition, he is a very strong technical writer who has prepared countless environmental reports ranging from Phase I Environmental Site Assessments to Corrective Action Plans and everything in between. A native Santa Cruzian, Forrest enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing softball, and his new found love of surfing.
Jon Gamble, Staff Environmental Geologist
Jon is experienced in providing environmental and geological support on site assessments, remediation, sampling, drilling, and monitoring projects. If something is broken, Jon can probably fix it. His technical support is invaluable to the AES team. Jon is a certified lifeguard, SCUBA diver, and spends a great deal of his free time surfing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Sarah Kincaid, Administrator
Sarah has an extensive background in technical writing, editing, and office management. She works closely with the AES team, running the office, where you’ll find a cheerful, professional atmosphere. Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughter, writing, and reading.
Chad Nichols, Director of Geological Science
Chad is a Licensed Professional Geologist in the following states: California (#5414); Idaho (#886); and Washington (#2425). He has more than 30 years of experience in geological, hydrogeological, and construction engineering related to environmental studies. His recent responsibilities include a variety of construction remediation activities on military facilities throughout the western US. Chad's base closure contracts have required demolition, soil removal and disposal, landfill methane control, and asbestos and lead abatement. His site assessments and characterizations have included trenching, logging, drilling and sampling, geological mapping, landslide mitigation, geological hazards, fault studies, groundwater dewatering, and aquifer characterization. Projects include San Francisco Zoo Infrastructure Masterplan, SF Groundwater Masterplan, Muni Metro Turnback and Mokelumne Aquifer Recharge and Storage feasibility study.
Chad has recently returned from Afghanistan where he served as USACE Schedule A (civilian) Hydrogeologist assigned to the US Navy Seabee 3rd, 25th, and 30th Naval Construction Regiments in Afghanistan. Serving as Navy Program Project Manager, planning, scheduling and coordinating installation of 1,500-foot-deep water production wells for US Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) at forward operation bases (FOBs) and combat outposts (COPs) throughout the country. AES is happy to have Chad back stateside, safe and sound.
Gerald E. Weber, Sr., Geologist/Consultant
Dr. Weber holds a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, with both Master’s and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Geology. Over the past 36 years, his exceptional career has included work on a wide variety of geologic problems in Engineering Geology, Petroleum Geology, Fluvial Geomorphology, Hydrogeology, Ground Water Exploration, Economic Geology, and Quaternary Geology in California and the Western United States. Jerry is a highly published academic. His teaching experience includes posts at University of California, Santa Cruz, and De Anza College, Cupertino, California. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, and has been the recipient of many prestigious grants and awards. Jerry's certifications include Registered Geologist, California #714 and Certified Engineering Geologist, California #1495.
Phil Mayberry, Environmental Scientist
Phil has more than 24 years experience in managing various environmental projects throughout the United States, which have included UST installation and removal, soil and groundwater remediation, and Phase I through III site assessments. In addition, he has performed asbestos, lead, and mold inspections, and has overseen the abatement of all three materials.
Phil holds a Master’s degree in Education specializing in instruction and supervision from Wilmington College. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has also served on the advisory board of the American Indoor Air Quality Council. In addition, Phil has more than 18 years of experience in education. His most recent post, for nine years, was as Senior Instructor for CALINC Training, LLC in Vacaville, CA, where he taught OSHA compliance courses which included courses in Asbestos (Supervisor, Building Inspector, Project Designer), Lead-based Paint (Supervisor, Inspector/Assessor, Project Designer), HAZWOPER (24 hr, 40 hr, Supervisor), Mold (Abatement, Inspection), and Confined Space (Supervisor, Attendant, Entrant, Rescue).
