Groundbreaking remediation technology for common dry cleaner soil and groundwater contamination.

Thanks to NASA, there is finally good news for owners of contaminated dry cleaner properties. Some of the very same chemicals dry cleaners have used for years to clean clothes are such effective cleaning solvents that NASA has also used them to clean space shuttle components and launching pads. Unfortunately, these chemicals are also extremely hazardous to the environment if leaked into the soil and groundwater.

NASA was facing the same contamination problems, albeit on a much larger scale, that many common dry cleaners have faced. They were looking for an inexpensive and environmentally friendly way to quickly and effectively remediate soil and groundwater contamination caused by the use of chemical solvents, such as Tetrachloroethylene (PCE or Perc). What NASA found, and what many dry cleaners already knew, such a solution did not exist ... so, they invented one.

This new technology developed and patented by NASA is known as Emulsified Zero-Valent Iron (EZVI). EZVI has been proven to quickly and cost-effectively remediate soil and groundwater contamination caused by dry cleaning solvents (such as Perc). EZVI is attractive not only for its speed and effectiveness, but also for its cost efficiency. EZVI can be up to fifty percent (50%) less expensive than other technologies, while significantly more effective.
